How Does Reverse Osmosis Filter Work?

Reverse osmosis (RO) is a filtration method commonly used in residential and commercial locations to clear impurities from water. The process works by using a semi-permeable membrane to separate and remove dissolved solids from the water, such as salts, heavy metals, and minerals.

This system effectively removes impurities from water and makes it safe for drinking, cooking, and other household uses. It’s a reliable and cost-effective method for providing high-quality drinking water for homes and businesses. Compared with other techniques, it is easier to clean and preserve and lasts 10 to 15 years when properly maintained.

A standard RO system usually has three separate filter stages – sediment removal, carbon filtering, and reverse osmosis. Each has its specialty and complements one another to attain the most effective water filtration possible.

Don’t waste any more time; if you’d like a reverse RO filter installed in your home, our professionals are ready to help!

Sediment filtration

Sediment is commonly the first stage of filtration. It is responsible for removing or trapping bigger particles like dust, dirt, and rust from the water. It enables the other filters to work more efficiently in trapping other contaminants.

Carbon filtration

Carbon filtration is the next step. The carbon absorbs bad tastes, odors, cloudiness, colors, and other chemicals like chlorine before the water enter the next stage. Even though this method gives the water a clean taste, it cannot remove contaminants of smaller molecule sizes or harmful pollutants such as heavy metals and arsenic.

Reverse Osmosis filtration

Reverse Osmosis is the final and central process. In this stage, the water goes through a semipermeable membrane that removes up to 99% of all impurities, such as lead, arsenic, and nitrates.
